Born and raised on the mean streets of East New York, Brooklyn, Shaun Gabriel, AKA DJ Shaun G, started his musical journey when he was 16 when he was given a musical instrument by his Dad. It was at this moment that DJ Shaun G knew he wanted to be part of ‘The Scene’.

He first became interested in the HIP-HOP & R&B  music scene in 1993. In 1991, aged 14, his Mum and Dad bought him his first set of decks. At the age of 17, he was already being touted as East New York, Brooklyn’s answer to Prince Marky D of the legendary group the Fat Boys. He did various warm-up sets before the doors opened in clubs hosting major names such as Prince Marky D, and many more. In 1996, he achieved his big break when Shaun Gabriel realized he was big in the game. It was after this point that he started getting gigs at big events such as Hot 97 Who’s Next @ Sobs, Shaun also toured with big groups such as Run DMC, Redman, and Keith Murray In 1998.

After receiving several offers, Shaun Gabriel joined Profile Records, who helped distribute his first internet release, ‘When I Say’ in 1997. Though the single didn’t sell as many as he probably would have liked, Shaun Gabriel is a fighter and since 2023 has been locked in the studio perfecting his craft.

Suffice it to say, that the Hip-Hop and R&B scene should be expecting big things from Shaun Gabriel in 2024.
